Laura Plumb

In Yoga classes, Laura
directs students awareness to body and breath to develop mastery
of the mind, and ultimately to transcend the physical, in order
to access higher realms of consciousness. She encourages Yoga practice
to be a celebration of life - a breathing with the divine essence
everywhere - and an expression of compassion to help further the
healing and awakening of humanity.
Yoga has meant a lot to Laura. Overwhelming, life-threatening
experiences drew her to the healing fires of Yoga to purify and
renew. As she began to emerge from the shadows of her conditioned
self, a profound near-death experience revealed to her the awesome
intelligence creating and informing all life. With that, she embraced
Yoga even more as a way to integrate this ground-shaking awareness.
Laura is extremely grateful to her teachers
who took her from darkness to light, particularly Rita Rivera, don
Miguel Ruiz, Barbara Simon, Yogiraj Rod Stryker, Vamadeva Shastri,
Jeffrey Armstrong, Tom Stone, and Swamini Mayatitananda, and to
the sages of our time Swami Muktananda, Paramahansa Yogananda, Sri
Anandamoyi Ma for their profound inspiration and guidance.
Laura Plumb is co-founder of Deep Yoga with her husband Bhava. She
is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level and leads
retreats, workshops and trainings. Laura's primary teacher is Vamadeva
Shastri (Dr. David Frawley), founder of the American Institute of
Vedic Studies, and known worldwide as a master of Vedic Wisdom,
Yoga, Ayurveda and Jyotish, and she is soon to be certified by the
Institute as an advanced practitioner. She recently produced her
first Yoga DVD, containing three 20-minute asana practices (morning,
evening, restorative).
